The More We Talk The Easier It Is
Exploring the role of art making to discuss sexual health pedagogies in Derbyshire’s primary and secondary schools
Utilising etymology and sociology approaches to create a series of public facing outcomes across the county throughout 2021 and 2022
In partnership with Derbyshire Sexual Health Services
Printmaking and textile techniques enable conversations with young people about sexual health education and access to services
From body image to the practicalities of accessing services to the use of language and gender identity, each school approached the project with their own relevant themes
All artworks are made with students in Year 5 at Ripley Junior School, the Diversity steering group at Tupton Hall Academy, Year 9 art students at Park Vale Academy and Year 10 and 11 art and textile students at Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School

Weaving Conversations introduced each project. Repetitive and simple weaving techniques fostered both positive and negative conversations that celebrated sexual health and promoted sex positivity
Outcomes of each school culminated in public facing events and exhibitions including parent workshops with work shown at market stalls, the local sexual health clinics, libraries and the School Nurse’s offices
