Better Books

A series of resources accompanying Nottingham Citizens campaign Better Books; a pledge to gift every Nottingham primary school a set of culturally and racially diverse reading books

“so that all children’s identities are represented and celebrated, and their experiences better acknowledged

Activities are designed to encourage a love of books and support listening and the sharing and valuing of perspectives. We also worked with storyteller, Alison Solomon to bring some of the books to life and encourage children to connect with themes through discussion and writing “

A large cardboard book was designed and created by Charlotte Tupper and campaigner Naomi Lake. ‘Hopes and Dreams 2’ was presented to councillor’s at the Better Books launch at Nottingham’s Council House, with an OVERDUE stamp issued, emphasising missed pledges and deadlines from the council. The book toured local schools becoming filled with comments and feedback from students across the city
